The Trident Tribes Foundation supported the School of Military Journalism program

Recently, certificates were awarded to graduates of an elective course for future military journalists supported by the Trident Tribes Foundation. The training program, held for students of the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, brought together the best experts in the field of military journalism who shared their experience and knowledge with future professionals.

In honor of the past Journalist’s Day, future professionals gathered at the Department of Window. At the beginning of the event, Colonel Yevhen Boyko, Head of the Department of Moral and Psychological Support, congratulated the boys and girls, noting that he sees future famous, very professional people in the audience who are making changes in the country and bringing Ukraine closer to victory.

  • I am very glad that there are people who understand how important it is to take care of the future of such professions as journalism,” Yevhen emphasized the importance of partnership with the Foundation.
“Practical knowledge is invaluable,” emphasized Hulia Pogotova, founder of the Trident Tribes Foundation. – “We will continue to promote the need for such programs and electives.

The training program included lectures on topics such as “Interviews with victims of war crimes,” “The Art of Interviewing,” “Basic Principles of a War Reporter,” “YouTube Development,” and “Wartime Communication Campaigns.” Among the speakers were well-known journalists Danylo Mokryk (journalist The Kyiv Independent and founder of the MocRec YouTube channel), Roman Kravets (Ukrainska Pravda), Anastasia Stanko (Hromadske) and Alyona Romaniuk (Detector Media until 2024, currently a teacher and media literacy trainer).

Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of military journalism, including ethical issues, preparing for interviews and organizing trips to the war zone. The graduates of the course expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn from leading experts and noted that the knowledge gained would help them in their future professional activities.

  • I am grateful to those cadets who wanted to take the knowledge. Because knowledge does not come naturally, it has to be taken! And may this talent stay with you, as professionals, for life,” Gulia Pogotova wished the journalists.

It is important that many young journalists could not attend the presentation of diplomas and certificates of completion of the elective, because they were already on a combat mission today.

The Trident Tribes Foundation will continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the professional level of Ukrainian journalists, especially in the difficult conditions of wartime. We believe that quality journalism is the key to truthful public information and an important tool in the fight against disinformation.

We sincerely congratulate the graduates and wish them success in their future work!
